Sarah Copus is an award winning and Billboard charting Celtic singer/songwriter and harpist who lives in Texas. This is a live streaming concert, and the proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Red Cross' Hurricane Harvey relief efforts supporting people in Houston, TX and the surrounding areas.
Sarah is a Celtic singer and harpist/multi-instrumentalist who has been performing and recording for over 7 years with her parent's platinum selling progressive new age band, 2002, and more recently as a solo artist in a more traditional Celtic music genre. She sings in Irish, Scots Gaelic, and Welsh as well as English in addition to performing Irish instrumentals on harp, piano, penny whistle, flute, and fiddle.
For a musician under 18, she has had some extraordinary success: two albums hit the Billboard charts that feature her as lead singer, radio airplay across hundreds of stations worldwide, and a Best Vocal Album award from Zone Music Reporter Awards Show in 2015. And as part of 2002, the band has sold over 3 million albums, and charted over 272 weeks on the Billboard charts in their 25 year history. Last year on Pandora, they had over 80 million plays of their music.
Sarah recently released her first solo album, Moorland Winds - a collection of traditional Irish, Scottish and Welsh songs and Irish tunes. Reviews have been very enthsiastic. Her voice has been described as "ethereal", "angelic". One reviewer said her vocals were like "a dove dancing with the Sunday morning sun". Another lauded her for her passion, respect, and humility.
Sarah will be performing music from her album and even a few songs from her family's 2002 repertoire with some special guests including Welsh guitar master, Chris Grooms, and national award winning Irish fiddler, Nathan Kennedy.
The event is sponsored by TIMES (the Traditional Irish Music Education Society), and the School of Irish Music, and will be shot by professional videographers and sound technicians to give the best in live streaming audio and visual quality.
All proceeds will be directly donated to the Red Cross to help all the victims in Houston and the surrounding areas from their tragic losses from Hurricane Harvey. Sarah's Grandmother lives in Houston and her Aunt in Corpus Christi and both cities were devastated by the storm. Her Grandmother was trapped for several days by floodwaters that came up to her back door, and her Aunt had to be evacuated from her home, so this disaster hits particularly close to home for Sarah, and she wants to do all she can to help all the victims of the hurricane.
Please buy a ticket, come watch the show, and support all those impacted by this terrible natural disaster.
